In a country where labor disputes are routine and wage stagnation the norm, Edo State made history. Governor Godwin Okpebholo announced a new minimum wage of ₦75,000, setting a bold standard for economic justice.

The announcement was met with cheers from Edo civil servants, unions, and everyday citizens who have long felt neglected. The hashtag #EdoWageHike surged as users urged other state governors to emulate the bold move.

While the praise poured in, some economists raised concerns about long-term sustainability, given Nigeria’s fragile revenue base. However, Governor Okpebholo insists the decision was well thought out and backed by economic restructuring within the state.
